How to Slay Doubt...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. The postage stamp never ever doubts its ability to reach its destination. If it did, you would never receive that package you purchased on Amazon. The postage stamp slays doubt each and every day. How can you act more like the postage stamp in this area?

One day you think you are in good health. The next day you feel ill. Suddenly, you have no strength or vitality. Your head aches and your body is racked with pain. What has happened? Dangerous pathogens have breached your body’s defense systems and have attacked vital organs. Left untreated, these invading organisms may destroy your health permanently—even kill you.

The same danger is imposed by insidious doubts.

·        We doubt if we are capable.

·        We doubt if we are worthy.

·        We doubt if we will succeed.

How to Kill Procrastination...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. Once it’s placed on a letter. It does not hesitate to do its job. It does not hold back. It never slacks off its job. It doesn’t wait for the best weather in order to reach its destination. Through rain, sleet and snow, the postage stamp continues to deliver.

Have you ever heard of the Ziegarnik Effect?

Basically it says that thing undone, will plague you forever until you do it. Human nature is to finish what we start and if it is not finished, we experience some type of discomfort. This discomfort manifests itself in different ways.

It usually shows up in your life as procrastination, resistance and fear. In the book The War of Art author Steven Pressfield says, “Procrastination is the most common manifestation of resistance because it’s the easiest to rationalize. We don’t tell ourselves, “I’m never going to write that book.” Instead we say, “I’m going to do it tomorrow.”...

How to Think Positively...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. After it is placed on a mail piece, it never doubts itself. It knows that without a doubt it will arrive at the destination it is bound for. Negative thoughts do not dominate the postage stamp. It always thinks positively. How can you imitate the postage stamp in this instance?

  Thoughts are things.

 Thoughts leads to feelings.

 Feelings lead to actions.

 Actions lead to results.

No thought lives in your head rent-free. Each thought you have will either be an asset or liability. It will either move you toward happiness and success or away from it. It will either empower you or weaken you. That’s why it’s of utmost importance to choose your thoughts wisely in your personal life as well as in your professional life.

If you believe it is possible, it will be possible for you. But if you think it will never happen, then guess what, it won’t. Throughout the day, be conscious of your self-talk. Do you...

The Power of Habit to Get Everything You Want in Life..The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. It has one singular goal. It remains focused. This focus was a habit it developed in the face of fear. The fear of living its home and other family of stamps, but it knows that in order to get what you want out of life, you must push through in order to create the life you want, not settle for life that is given to you.

Let’s face it, trying to replace bad habits with good ones is not easy, but it is surely worth it.

Be Realistic

It can be tempting to try to change everything in your life immediately. You tell yourself, ‘This week I’m going to stop smoking, stop swearing, stop staying up too late at night, start exercising, start eating better, and start calling my parents.’ But trying to reach all your goals at the same time is a sure way to reach none of them!

Work on your habits in realistic increments. The following steps may help:

1.      Create two lists—a...

How to Deal with a Difficult/Mean Boss or Bully...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. When it’s placed on a mail piece, it will be grouped with many other mail pieces. Sometimes mail pieces get stuck together as they go through various mail processing machines and the stamps rub each other the wrong way. They peacefully solve their conflict so they can reach their destination.

So just how do you deal with a difficult boss or any person in general?

Well, the good thing is that a difficult or mean person has learned this type of behavior and fortunately, anything learned can be unlearned. And even if your boss doesn’t change, you have the power to change yourself and how you view your situation.

First, keep your cool and don’t give in to rage. When your temper is out of control, you unwittingly give the difficult person power over you. You are allowing them to dictate your behavior. In that moment, they have control over your emotions, you don’t.

Secondly, put all thoughts of revenge out of your mind. Revenge...

How to Finally Overcome Fear...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. It travels to far and distant lands. It leaves its family (the rest of the book of stamps it was plucked from) and it never sees them again. I’m sure that is fearful for the stamp, but it knows that it has a job to do. It stares fear in the face and forges on. If the postage stamp can do it, you can too. One of my favorite online educators is Brendon Burchard. Check out his website at:

When we are born, we have no fears. As we grow we learn and develop fears. The two major fears we learn are the fear of failure or loss and the fear of criticism and rejection. We soon begin to believe that we are inadequate, weak and unlovable. As a result of the destructive criticism and rejection we received in childhood, we hold ourselves back as adults. We sell ourselves short. We quit before we even try. But if we challenge and change our beliefs about ourselves, we can literally transform our lives.

One way to overcome your fear is...

How Incredibly Successful People Think...The Postage Stamp Method

Consider the postage stamp. If you want to be world-class, you have to start thinking like a postage stamp. It never gives up and it never takes the easy route. It masters its mindset because you can’t master life until you master your mind.

How would you answer the following questions:

1.   I wish I had fewer problems in life.         Agree or Disagree

2.   I wish I didn’t have to struggle so much in life.         Agree or Disagree

3.   I wish I had the opportunities that other people have.      Agree or Disagree.

If you agreed to any one of the above statements, then you are not thinking like an incredibly successful person.

Success leaves clues. So what clues can we glean from incredibly successful people?

Let’s break down each of the foregoing questions.

#1 – I wish I had fewer problems...

How a Postage Stamp Inspired Me to Reach My Goals - The 10-Step Process

Consider the postage stamp. When you think about it, the postage stamp is the ultimate goal achiever.  When it is plucked from its sheet and carefully placed onto that envelope, it in effect says, “I will not stop until I reach my goal. I will not look back. I will not falter. I will not second guess. I will reach my destination come what may. I will follow through. I will honor the struggle along the way. I am the small and beautiful, yet mighty and bold. I will never ever give up. What about you?

If one of your goals is to be successful in any area of your life or career, the one thing you must to do is become an attractive person.

Author and late motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “Success is something you attract by the person you become.” Rohn of course, isn’t referring to external attractiveness, rather the internal kind.

If you want success and all that it brings, you have to become a better, more attractive person.

How a Postage Stamp Saved My Life

I didn’t know it at the time, but 48 hours was all the time that I had left with the most extraordinary woman I had ever known. That woman was my mom.

As I reflect back, the night before she died was no different than any other. But the next day and every day since, has never been the same. Mom had now been diagnosed with cancer for the second time in her life. The first time she would beat it, the second time, she wouldn’t.

This time mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, which would eventually metastasize to her liver, and take her life in 2008.

I am the youngest of three children and the only girl. To say that my life was shattered when my mom died would be an understatement. My mom was my best friend and when she died, I wanted to die too. I felt sad, empty and alone all the time. One day my mind was really on this loop about taking my life, I couldn’t stop it. But as I was imagining how I would end it all, the thought of a postage...

To Achieve Your Goals, You Must Become Attractive on the Inside

This post was originally published on

Half of this year is gone. Have you reached 50 percent of your goals?

If one of your goals is to be successful -- in any area of your life or career -- before 2016 comes to an end, the one thing you must to do is to become an attractive person. I'm not talking about external attractiveness, but rather the internal kind. As the late motivational speaker Jim Rohn once said, “Success is something you attract by the person you become.”

If you want success and all that it brings, you have to become a better, more attractive person. Period. “Your level of success will rarely exceed your level of personal development,” Rohn once said. The personal development he referred to can be knowledge, experience, mindset or beliefs.

You become attractive by developing yourself into the person you know you need to be in order to attract, create and sustain the level of success you want in...
